The current leader in software demand is Android

The market leader in portable device software demand is Android.
Software companies are making Android software a priority and browsers are fighting over first place.
Mozilla has made Firefox 5 available to download from Mozilla’s FTP server: Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Some of the new changes include:
WebKit’s CSS animations
Do-Not-Track setting
smooth scrolling,
and the removal of Channel Switcher.
Firefox 6 beta will be available in a few weeks, followed by Firefox 7, and Mozilla hopes to realease Firefox 8 just in time for Christmas.
On the Linux side of the world, Chrome Nearly Replaced Firefox as Ubuntu’s Default Browser but competition is fierce and while Google Chrome is an excellent browser the fact that Google has released their Chromebook, Firefox was chosen to continue as the default browser based on that reason.
Gee, I hope that I receive an Android toy for Christmas so that I can see what's new!
Microsoft Windows 8 and the new wave of O/S on chips

Operating System software on chips is not really new; it has been available for years now and is present in the form of electronics manufactured boards with processors that are designed with specific purposes.
These Operating Systems on chips include ARM processors and can use embedded Linux, Windows CE, or other Operating System software.
The latest trend is of course the tablet along with the iPad. These new technologies are very enticing because they bring pc power into smaller hand held devices offering more than what we have already seen in the mobile phone markets that use iOS or iPhone operating system.
The greatest benefit of using a tablet or an iPad is not the games that many people believe but the appeal to those who will use it on a more sophisticated and intelligent level, making use of the applications that are currently offered, possibly increasing the social networking ideas, and new applications that will develop as users learn to apply themselves more comfortably.
The trend that Microsoft is taking by entering into this market is not simply to offer a competitive device but rather to be able to finally encode their operating system software into chip form that will make copying and hacking more difficult for the PC market.
The most important factor that will decide the future for these devices is the operating system. If the newest version of Windows does not have the flexibility, speed, and capability to be programmed without the bloat factor, that was inherent in previous versions of Microsoft Windows, then this will push the newest O/S member Android into the top spot for future technological program development.
Apart from the software, the new tablet and pad technologies will have to combine the hardware capabilities of previous designs that include cameras, GPS, media players, and anything else that can be squeezed into these high tech packages.

Information Website Owners Must Keep

You started a website and all is going great but have you ever considered what will happen if the company, designer, programmer happens to disappear one day?
Whenever customers ask us to develop a website project we open a customer record that records information that the client will need from the very beginning or from the starting point that we are involved. We always feel that if for some reason the customer should leave us, that our obligation to provide them with a copy of that record has been fulfilled upon delivery of the project.
The information that you should request from your website project manager, designer, programmer include:
Domain Registrar and the email address used initially to register the domain
You must know this if you need to add or change domain name information.
Website Cpanel login: Account login, password
How else are you going to make changes to your hosting parameters?
Email accounts at site: Account names, email addresses, passwords, forwarders
Your PC crashes and you loose your account info and password, do you know where you are going to get it from?
FTP accounts: host name, user names, passwords
Usually this is the same as the cpanel login information but there maybe additional accounts, and you can find this via the cpanel otherwise.
Database accounts: server names, database names, database users, passwords
Usually you can find this via the cpanel but it is easier.
In case that you use special applications such as a CMS, CRM, or ecommerce packages, then it is a must that you have the login name and password of the super administrator or at least the administrator account.
The domain name information can usually be obtained normally through whois except in cases where the domain name has been registered in some countries that do not adhere to the normal whois.
Another very important piece of information include Google accounts. If you are given a choice to have an independent Google email and therefore account, you should take it. The reason for this is that even if you do not use the Google email account, you will have full access to all of your statistical data.
Unfortunately one of our new clients lost five years of statistical data simply because they did not ask the person to transfer or backup their data periodically or to give them separate access permission to the Google Analytics.
Please remember that all your information is confidential, should be protected, and is capital and/or lower case sensitive.
I hope that this information is helpful and a reminder that not all things are equal or perfect.
Problem with security camera viewing via IE solved

After initially submitting a variety of posts via the Microsoft forums to solve a problem for a client of mine who uses Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7, I decided to solve the issue through scientific problem solving.
My methodology included checking the operating systems of Microsoft XP, Vista, and 7 using IE8 to see which worked with ActiveX and which failed.
Apparently only Microsoft Windows XP continues to work correctly with the remoteAP ActiveX applications that are used by many webcam servers.
Why not use other browsers? Good question but the simply answer is that ActiveX was developed by Microsoft and was considered a security risk from the beginning by the other browsers on the market.
Initially users of Windows Vista and 7 could actually see the web cameras using IE8 but Microsoft then created an update to IE that stopped ActiveX from working properly.
The IE problem begins with requesting the webcam and usually shows the screen turning white and locking up IE. To end IE you have to use the Windows Task Manager CTRL-ALT-DEL and end the IE task.
The process of the webcam server is to upload the remoteAP ActiveX application to your system and display a screen where the owner can then login.
Microsoft fails Windows Vista and Windows 7 users when it comes to solving this problem. With Windows 7 users, Microsoft decided that only those who have purchased the Ultimate and Professional packages would have access to install XP MODE. That means that the majority of users who use the Windows 7 Home and Premium versions are locked out unless they are willing to pay for an upgrade.
The answer for Windows 7 users is to either upgrade and install XP MODE or use a work around, while for Windows Vista try using the following work around.
Windows Vista and 7 ActiveX fix
Windows 7 Home and Premium ActiveX fix
Technology is not a free market
The newest products to hit the markets this year are the pads and tablets. By now everyone has seen or read about them such as the Apple iPad or the Barnes & Noble 3G Nook, the Amazon Kindle.
They give users the ability to carry a light weight portable screen that can be used to read a variety of documents and some of them have additional functionality.
As consumers, many of us believe that new products are limited to available technology that has undergone research and development but that is not the case for pads.
Apparently the markets are controlled by some larger companies that do not want to give everything away at the start.
The following shows how Texas Instruments prohibits Nvidia to restrain itself by limiting the power of the pad device.
TI admits to Nvidia tablet pressure
By doing this, Texas Instruments limits the power of the unit but also increases their opportunities that the users will be back to buy the next year model.
I guess that they don’t want others to rock the profit boat.
Problems with Internet Explorer 8 IE8 using Activex

Users trying to access web pages, web cam software, or whatever that use ActiveX may have difficulties when using either Vista or Windows 7.
The issue is that Active X is not supported by the 64-bit version of IE8; it works fine under the 32-bit version.
If you are using Win7 or Vista then be aware that 64-bit versions of Vista and Windows 7 come with 32- and 64-bit versions of Internet Explorer version 8.
To use the 32-bit version, click Start>All Programs, and scroll to Internet Explorer, there are two listed. One of them is defined as 64-bit, the other one works with ActiveX.
If you are using a valid version of Windows operating system, you can run the diagnostics that Microsoft provides for a quick checkup.
Ecommerce sales and buying continue to drive through the economic crisis

While world economies are still showing signs of insecurity, the sales of goods and services are performing better than sales through local stores and shops.
Some of the major advantages for the e-shop vendors and owners are:
- Lower cost of realty
- Lower investment costs
- Higher marketing range
- More efficient accounting and statistics
- Increase of Internet users means more customers
- A variety of delivery methods
Some of the major advantages for the shoppers using the Internet are:
- More vendors with similar or same quality and better pricing
- Exposure to the latest products and services
- Quicker last minute shopping, such as tickets
- Easier comparison and ratings by users for better decisions
- Less use of transportation – a greener environment issue
As you can see, both the buyer and sellers can use the Internet to gain time and money on an everyday basis.

Here's the special sale prices that you have been waiting for:

Microsoft short on cash

Microsoft releasing Windows 7 for sales at an earlier date provides an economic indicator that the software giant is anxious to increase sales on the latest version of Windows.
As with all businesses, Microsoft has one of the largest work forces in the world today and to maintain that position, it too must keep cash flow at positive levels.
Let's hope that the news of releasing Windows 7 is simply to accentuate the economic situation of the company and not simply to put another defunct version of the program on the market.
Windows 7 with a discount

Well, these days everyone is getting into the discounting the price of their products and why shouldn't Microsoft be any different.
With the newest version of Windows and the increasing use of Linux world wide even Microsoft sales figures have to be less than normal.
The latest release of Microsoft Windows version 7 is on sale in the European country of England. Hmmm, isn't that right next door to Microsoft's European headquarters.
So what discount is Microsoft offering? Well the selling price is currently about 50% off. Yes, that's right, so order now, and you too can receive a version of Windows 7 without the Internet browser for around $120.00 in U.S. Dollars.
Where can you get your discounted software package from?
Right here at Microsoft Windows 7 but think about it now because there's no telling how long this will last.
Vista soon to be replaced
In an effort not to place the blame or shame on Microsoft for their Windows products, the Vista release is known to have more problems than previous versions. Many users that have been forced to have Vista with their new systems have an alternative by requesting a "down grade" that Microsoft has authorized.
The down grade helps Vista users to have their operating systems changed to Microsoft Windows XP that has proven to be more reliable.
Microsoft also annouced today that it would continue to sell Vista as a means of not admitting and accepting it's own fault for producing a poor product. The cut off date for Vista has now been set for the year 2011.
Effective use of email

We all want our businesses to grow as fast as possible and when we start a web site on the Internet, it is because we want to expand our reach to customers both locally and globally.
One of the most important aspects of your website is your contact page. This is where new business will be able to take the first step to inform you that someone out there is interested in learning more about your products or services.
Answer your emails within 24 hours or even better yet within 12 hours to show that you respect the visitors request. This will show that your company or that you as an individual are willing to provide fast service.
Some points regarding your email responses:
Keep your email answers specific to the visitors questions. Yes it is nice to be able to throw in some sales information but if a visitor sees that instead of an answer to their question then it is most likely that you have lost a customer.
The subject of your email response should not be capitals only and should refer to their subject as clearly as possible. This is to avoid having your email marked as spam because if it is then you have again lost a customer.
Grammar and spelling must be correct in whatever language you respond. You want to give a positive impression regarding intelligence and for respect towards the visitor's language if you respond in their language.
I recommend that incoming and outgoing email responses should be kept if possible in temporary folders for follow-up and you can use them to see at a later period if you really feel that your email etiquette is improving.
One last point regarding the safe-keeping of emails. Emails are the equivalent to paper documents today and your correspondence between people and companies that you do business with should be kept in folders that are related. You would not throw an order from a customer into the garbage so why throw out or delete all emails related to doing business. They should be kept and you should also include them in your backup procedure.
I hope that these tips bring you new business and happy customers.
New technologies create simple human interface
Now we can see the ultimate human interface through technology.
We all see new technology changing almost everyday from the invention of Ipod's to advances in mobile phones to Microsoft Table Computer.
A group of people have now put together a combination of software programs and hardware gadgets that are leading information technology into areas and inspire new ideas that can be both practical and useful.
Here is a video clip showing that when people collaborate they can accomplish great things and when an idea is fabricated using available materials it can lead to a completed invention like the first Apple computer built in a garage.

Statistics – what is your web site actually doing?
When it comes to tracking the performance of your web site on the Internet, there are at least two ways to think about it.
The first is what most people do, look to see who and from where their web pages have been accessed the most.
The most common tools for this are:
Awstats, that is directly available from most the server that your site is hosted.
Google Analytics a free resource that is easy to implement and provides graphical statistics and demographics.
Another method is to use online counters that report information to a third party from the web pages that are searched and accessed.
The second, what is the real target audience that you want to attract to your site or the goal?
Most web pages are written in a free form manner that is not targeting visitors. If you want your web site to actually produce more clients or customers for you then you have to drive your site rather than simply let it drive you. In effect, you have to approach this as if you are a marketing and sales professional pushing your products or services out in front.
Parts of your goals are: higher web site traffic, less visitor bouncing that simply leave your site because it was not what they wanted but also because it does not peak their interest, and to have visitors return to your site hopefully referring it to others as in word of mouth promotion.

Windows 7 first passing grade

With some extra time, I managed to take a test drive of Microsoft Windows 7. Here are the results.
You are not going to believe this. I just loaded windows 7 ultimate on an older system.
The system hardware configuration is:
Intel Pentium 3
Nvidia 64mb mb vga card
768 mb ram memory
20 gb drive
Windows 7 says it is an evaluation copy but so far it works. It used 11 gb out of 17 formatted.
It complained a bit about the 768 mb during the install saying that it wan't 1 gb but it loaded none the less.
It did not find the network card which is fairly new and the sound system which is on the mobo.
Awe darn, the screen saver says that it can't work without a newer direct3d card.
Ahhhh but it will let me install a few gadgets on the screen that managed to do 1024 resolution.
Internet won't work even though I got it to recognize net card. It won't get the correct dns from the router.
So there we have it, Microsoft claims that Windows 7 will run on older hardware and it does.
